- The Teams
Shimla Youngs FC - U17s (2008)
The 2008 Welsh Super Cup team for U17s..
In 2005 we spoke with the organisers of FIFA U15 Inter Club Champion, which happens in Zurich, for the best 16 clubs of the World.. We wanted them to invite us for that prestigious league. The Tech Director was impressed that someone in India is dreaming of making the country qualify for the World Cup, and suggested : That we play in unofficial Youth tournaments in Europe, and in at least 2 age groups reach Semi Final position.. That made us go in 2007 to the Welsh Super Cup.. That year, we lost all the games, badly, the first one was 1-11..
So, we came back and trained for 5 days a week for about 8 months. There was 1 hour of fitness, and then 2 hours of football training. Every Sunday, we gave them a game with our “A” team, which had 2 foriegners..They lost the 1st game 0-7, and the last one 0-1, and we knew the team was ready..
Coached by : Sanjay Negi and Uttam Singh Negi
Captain : Prem Kumar
GK : Rakshit and Satyam Thapa
Defence : Manish Maithani, Nikhil Khandelwal, Jalaj Shah, Nitish Chikara, Munmun Timothy Lagun
Midfield : Prem Kumar, Keshav Bisht, Rohan Sridhar
Wingers/Striker : Geet Kumar, Prithviraj Dev
The team did outstandingly, and narrowly missed getting into the Semi Finals.
The Everton scout , wanted to bring
Prem Kumar - for his Roy Keanish game..
Prithviraj Dev - for his speedy runs and killer finishing
to Everton (the same year Wayne Rooney was going to Manchester United FC).
However, the English FA rules of not allowing any player, from the country ranked below 75th in the FIFA rankings, came in the way, and disappointed all of us.
Later on, in 2009 Mummun went to lay for Sikkim United FC, and played for ISL team Delhi Dynamos.
Rakshit played for Sikkim United, and was part of I-League winning Minerva team, and was called for East Bengal too.
Nitish Chikara, played for Mohd Sporting, captained the Delhi State Santosh Trophy team too.
We are happy that we proved it, that in a year, with systematic coaching, we can be World beaters..
